The storm on the Baltic Sea coast almost thwarted ice bathers on the island of Usedom. But the organizers had a saving idea.

Ahlbeck (dpa/mv) – Because of the storm surge warning on the Baltic Sea coast, the ice bathers did not plunge into the floods at the 27th Usedom winter bathing spectacle on Saturday, but took an ice shower. According to the organizer Tom Müller, around 125 ice bathers came despite the adverse weather conditions, of which a good 40 dared to take the ice shower. It was too uncomfortable for the others. Usually about 300 ice bathers would come. Several hundred onlookers watched the spectacle.
