Over a week ago, city officials found a sack of body parts in a popular Parisian park. The woman, later identified as the 46-year-old mother, was reported missing by her husband. Now he’s a suspect himself.

A week and a half after a woman’s dismembered body was found in a popular Paris park, the dead man’s husband has been arrested. The man was taken into custody for interrogation, according to investigators. The broadcaster BMFTV reported last week that the man was suspected of contradicting statements.

The husband reported his wife’s disappearance to the police on February 6. The dead woman is a 46-year-old from the Seine-Saint-Denis department in the greater Paris area. She was identified by her fingerprints.

According to information from “Le Parisien”, the couple has three children. The man only contacted the police a week after his wife’s disappearance, the newspaper reported.

In Buttes-Chaumont Park, city officials found a plastic bag containing the woman’s severed torso in a pile of garden debris. The police immediately cordoned off the park, which is popular with joggers and families. During a targeted search, investigators then discovered further body parts in an inaccessible part of the park.

The site is near a home where the body of a 12-year-old girl was found in a plastic box in October. A 24-year-old Algerian woman has been charged with murder and is being held in custody.

The park in Paris’ 19th arrondissement is used by many families and joggers. It was planned in the 19th century in the style of English landscape gardens on the site of former quarries. Several rocks, a grotto with a waterfall and a lake were artificially created.
