Eintracht Frankfurt wants to learn from the defeat in the Champions League and take three points in the Bundesliga at RB Leipzig. Coach Glasner ponders a lot, but doesn’t doubt.

Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) – Oliver Glasner does not want to spend long with what was. The defeat in the premier class against SSC Naples is over for the coach of Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt. At RB Leipzig, Glasner would like to win again with his team. “We now quickly have the opportunity to create positive feelings in ourselves again. We’ll try to get back in a good mood quickly,” said the head coach before the game on Saturday (3:30 p.m. / Sky).

Currently, his sixth-placed team is separated by just one point from fifth-placed Leipzig. “It’s a difficult task that awaits us, but we want to get three points and we believe we can do that,” said the Austrian. The aggressive defense of the Saxons was a particular challenge. “They are a team that waits to lose the ball and then use their switching game and their speed,” said Glasner of the opponent, who he considered a master candidate before the season. “To win in Leipzig, you have to pay out your entire portfolio.”

At least when looking at the squad, this is almost possible. With the exception of the long-term injured midfielder Éric Junior Dina Ebimbe, all the players are fit. “It’s very gratifying and important after so many games. Sebastian Rode is doing better too,” said the Eintracht coach, who gave his players a little breather after their performance in the premier class. “I said to the lads, let football rest for a day and a half and then focus totally on Leipzig from Friday,” explained the 48-year-old.

After the 0:2 in the round of 16 first leg of the Champions League against Napoli on Tuesday evening, it is time to find new courage. “We take the defeats in order to readjust and get back on the road to success,” said Glasner, who also pondered a lot himself. “I’ve used a lot of brain power in the last few days, where I’ve also been thinking about myself.” It’s not always pleasant, but it’s part of life.

But after the game has been processed, we must now look ahead. “It’s like at school: If you write a lot of A’s and then screw up a school work, then you’re not a five-year student right away,” said Glasner. Analyzing mistakes is important, but questioning everything after a defeat is not the right way. “We’ve had a lot of A’s lately. Now we’ve screwed it up, but we can see what we can do better.” Against Leipzig, too, it is now important “to use this phase to come out stronger and to reach the next level”.
