Waldshut-Tiengen (dpa/lsw) – Two and a half years after the disappearance of a young hiker from North Rhine-Westphalia in the Black Forest, the death investigation has been discontinued. As the public prosecutor’s office in Waldshut-Tiengen announced on Wednesday, the background to Scarlett S.’s disappearance is still unclear. However, the extensive investigations by the public prosecutor’s office did not reveal any evidence of a violent crime. The authorities evaluated more than 500 tips; they could not find out anything about the whereabouts of the young woman.
The then 26-year-old Scarlett S. from Bad Lippspringe in North Rhine-Westphalia has been missing since September 10, 2020. She was on a hike on the gorge trail in the southern Black Forest in a steep and impassable forest area and could have had an accident there. The missing person was last captured by a surveillance camera in a grocery store in Todtmoos on the morning of September 10th. Since then there has been no trace of her. Even a broadcast of the ZDF television program “Aktenzeichen XY… Missing” couldn’t help.
