Lindau (dpa / lby) – police officers caught a foreign citizen in Lindau (Lake Constance) who had been traveling in Europe without permission for at least six years. The 37-year-old was discovered on Sunday evening during a train check when he wanted to enter Germany illegally from Austria, the police said on Tuesday. The man had a valid passport, but no residence permit. Since 2017, the man is said to have been in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands again and again without permission. According to the police, he was to be deported from Germany in 2019, but he went into hiding.
Two years ago, the man from Asia was caught doing undeclared work in Austria and identified himself with someone else’s residence permit, it said. In the same year he also had himself vaccinated against Corona in Germany – also without a residence permit. In the meantime, the 37-year-old is said to have had a Greek residence permit, but this has now expired. The man has been in a detention center in Hof since Monday, from where he is to be transferred to his home country.
