Wernigerode (dpa/sa) – The Harzer Schmalspurbahnen GmbH (HSB) gets a new managing director. Katrin Müller is to manage the company from July 1st, as announced by the HSB on Monday. The previous managing director Matthias Wagener will then take retirement. Müller has been with the company for twelve years and was previously responsible for marketing and sales at HSB. The supervisory board of the HSB in the Wernigerode town hall decided on her promotion on Monday.

With around 140 kilometers in Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt, HSB operates the longest contiguous narrow gauge network in Germany and employs around 280 people. According to the company, there are currently 25 steam locomotives in stock. The locomotives are one of the most famous tourist attractions in the Harz and are still powered by coal.
