Offenbach (dpa/lhe) – People in Hesse can expect changeable weather with strong winds at the start of the new week. As early as Monday night, individual gusts of around 55 kilometers per hour are blowing in the higher mountains, as the German Weather Service (DWD) announced on Sunday in Offenbach.

The wind continues to increase in the morning and brings strong to stormy gusts of 55 to 65 kilometers per hour in northern Hesse and in the mountains. On the Wasserkuppe even single gusts of wind around 80 kilometers per hour are possible. The wind only dies down in the afternoon. Otherwise, the day in the north will be mostly cloudy, while in the south it will be clearer and will remain clear for a longer period of time. It will be mostly dry with maximum temperatures of up to 14 degrees.

In the night on Tuesday it will be heavily cloudy in the north and slightly cloudy in the south with lows of up to 3 degrees. The last strong gusts are only possible at the summit. On Tuesday, the north will initially be cloudy and drizzle is possible. Otherwise the weather loosens up and it stays dry at up to 13 degrees. A weak south-west wind will blow.

On Wednesday night there will be few clouds and fog will form locally with lows of up to 1 degree. Wednesday will then start alternately and become increasingly cloudy from noon. A moderate wind will blow and there will be showers in the afternoon. The temperatures rise up to 12 degrees.
