Halle (dpa/sa) – Exports from Saxony-Anhalt to Ukraine and Russia have fallen sharply since the war began a year ago. The value of the goods exported to both countries in the period from March to December 2022 was 29 percent below the same period last year, as the State Statistical Office announced on Friday. According to this, goods worth around 59.8 million euros were exported to Ukraine from the beginning of the war until the end of 2022, and the value for exports to Russia was around 195 million euros.

According to the information, imports from the Ukraine to Saxony-Anhalt also fell by four percent to around 43.9 million euros. In terms of monetary value, preserved fruit and fruit preparations were most frequently imported from Ukraine.

According to the State Statistical Office, the value of goods imported from Russia to Saxony-Anhalt has risen by around 20 percent to 2.86 billion euros since the beginning of the war. The main reason for this is the price increases for crude oil and natural gas. While the imported value of the two goods grew by 24.5 percent year-on-year, the imported weight fell by around 1.9 percent, according to the State Statistical Office.
