Hattersheim am Main (dpa/lhe) – An 18-year-old man is in custody after a fire in an asylum accommodation in Hattersheim in southern Hesse. The police said on Friday that the resident was being investigated for serious arson. His motive and other backgrounds were initially unknown. The 18-year-old is accused of setting a fire in the asylum accommodation in the Main-Taunus district on Thursday night. Around 40 residents had left the building independently and unharmed, it said. The suspect was brought before a magistrate on Thursday. According to initial estimates, the damage is several hundred thousand euros.
