Heidelberg (dpa / lsw) – After more than 20 searches in Heidelberg and several places in the Rhein-Neckar district, four suspected drug dealers have been taken into custody. The four men had already been taken to different prisons, the public prosecutor’s office in Heidelberg and the police headquarters in Mannheim announced on Thursday. A fifth suspect was also investigated but was not arrested. Among other things, there is the urgent suspicion of trafficking in narcotics in large quantities and the commercial sale of narcotics to minors.
As early as February 7, 14 apartments were searched and 33 people checked during an “intensively prepared operation” involving a large number of police officers. A week later, on February 14, 9 search warrants from the District Court of Heidelberg were executed again. Hashish, marijuana, amphetamines, various weapons and more than 53,500 euros in cash were found during the operations.
Five suspects were arrested during the first operation, and arrest warrants were issued against all five – in one case, investigations were underway, but there was no reason for arrest, the police said. Therefore, the arrest warrants were only enforced in four cases.
