Halle (dpa/sa) – Almost every second new car registered in Saxony-Anhalt in 2022 had an electric or hybrid drive. Their share of all newly registered cars rose from 39.2 to 44.8 percent compared to the previous year, as announced by the State Statistical Office in Halle on Thursday. A total of around 43,900 cars were registered nationwide, 2.9 percent more than in the previous year. 5,560 (up 32.5 percent) were pure electric cars, around 14,100 cars (up 12.7 percent) had a hybrid drive.
Only around 37 percent of newly registered cars last year were petrol, around 17 percent were diesel vehicles. According to the statisticians, 93 percent of all new cars in 2019 were powered by petrol or diesel.
As the State Statistical Office also reported, significantly more brand-new motorcycles were registered in Saxony-Anhalt last year. In total there were a good 4900, around a third or 1200 more than in the previous year. The number of newly registered buses also rose significantly by 31 percent to 169. There was a drop in new registrations for trucks (minus 11 percent) and tractors (minus 7.7 percent). According to the statisticians, the data is based on information from the Federal Motor Transport Authority.
