Rostock (dpa / mv) – The Rostock Seawolves go into the international break of the basketball Bundesliga with a clear victory at the Löwen Braunschweig. On Wednesday evening, the team of head coach Christian Held defeated Lower Saxony, who were threatened with relegation, 87:71 (43:31) and celebrated their tenth success in their 21st game of the season. The best pitcher for the promoted team was JeQuan Lewis with 23 points.
The Seawolves took the lead for the first time in the second minute after a Lewis three and held on until the break. After the 24:20 in the first round, the guests continued to pull away in the second part of the game and benefited from their significantly better hit rate in long-distance throws. The ball landed in the basket in six out of twelve attempts, while Braunschweig were only successful with one out of 13 throws.
Even after the change of sides, the Mecklenburgers remained the dominant team. The Seawolves finally paved the way to victory with a 9-0 run late in the third quarter, eventually going into the final period with a 25-point cushion. Although Braunschweig started the last quarter with an 8-0 series, Rostock did not let that deter them and in the end achieved a clear success.
