Rostock (dpa/mv) – The Rostock Seawolves also won the second duel against the Veolia Towers Hamburg in the basketball Bundesliga. The promoted team celebrated a 91:81 (44:46) win on Friday evening in front of 3,400 spectators in the Inselparkhalle at the start of the second half of the season and thus their third win in a row. The best pitcher in the team of head coach Christian Held was Tyler Nelson (20 points).
In the first quarter, the Seawolves were temporarily leading by five points, but then fell clearly behind until the middle of the second quarter because the Towers scored from almost every position. But after being 27:41 behind in the meantime, the Hamburgers suddenly didn’t want to succeed anymore. The Rostockers were different, after a 17:0 run they even took the lead again for a short time.
After the change of sides, the Mecklenburg team got off to a better start and were up 64:54 in the 37th minute. By the beginning of the final quarter, however, the lead had dwindled back to four points. The Seawolves didn’t let that deter them though. The guests clearly dominated the last part of the game, were much more effective in throwing attempts and rebounds and came to a deserved victory. Already on Sunday (3 p.m.) the Rostockers have to start again. Oldenburg is a guest in the Stadthalle.
