Schwerin (dpa/mv) – Before the mid-year grades this Friday at Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania’s schools, the Ministry of Education has activated its reference phone again. The Ministry of Education announced on Wednesday that students and parents could call 0385/588 7987 to get professional advice from school psychologists until February 10. Also on Saturday, February 4, the phone is manned from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
For more than 150,000 schoolchildren in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the two-week winter holidays begin after the report day. The corona pandemic has left significant learning gaps in many children. In the 2021/22 school year, five percent of the children and young people in the north-east were not promoted or repeated a grade voluntarily. The nationwide average was only half as high at 2.4 percent.
