Sanitz (dpa/mv) – A pensioner died on Wednesday while felling trees on his own property. The 73-year-old saw a notch in the trunk of a conifer tree about 15 meters high with a chainsaw in the morning in Sanitz near Rostock, said a police spokesman. An acquaintance, with whom he had taken down trees and trimmed bushes since the day before, got more tools at the time.
When the helper came back, he found the 73-year-old under the fallen tree. An emergency doctor could only determine death. So far there is no evidence that strong wind played a role in the accident, the spokesman said. A death investigation should now clarify what happened. The exact cause of death is still unclear.
