Dessau-Roßlau (dpa/sa) – After a successful model project in Halle, there will also be a midwife-led delivery room at the Dessau Municipal Clinic in the future. “We want to improve the working conditions of midwives, strengthen natural birth and counteract the increasing number of caesarean births in the country,” said Social Affairs Minister Petra Grimm-Benne (SPD) on Tuesday. The state is funding the project with around 343,000 euros. In the so-called midwives’ delivery room, midwives look after healthy pregnant women independently before, during and after the birth. Doctors only help with complications.
