Halle (dpa/sa) – He saved an infant who was threatening to suffocate – and has now been publicly praised by Interior Minister Tamara Zieschang (CDU). “It was only through the courageous, determined and at the same time sensitive action of Mr. D. that worse things could be prevented,” Zieschang explained on Monday. Because of a febrile seizure, the son of a family from Vienna suddenly stopped breathing while riding a tram in Halle last October, it was said. The trained first responder, who was traveling in the same train, began life-support measures such as chest compressions. Shortly thereafter, the infant showed signs of life again.
