Kirchehrenbach (dpa / lby) – An 81-year-old driver was hit by a train at a level crossing and injured. The car was thrown several meters into a meadow in the accident on Saturday in Kirchehrenbach (Forchheim district), the police said on Sunday. The elderly woman suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital.

According to the findings, the train driver gave his prescribed whistle signal and the woman initially stopped. Then she suddenly drove off, they said. Damage to the car and train totaled around 40,000 euros. The train driver and the 18 train passengers were not injured.
