Parchim (dpa/mv) – The transport company Ludwigslust-Parchim (VLP) provides passengers in their buses with free WiFi for mobile Internet access. In cooperation with the Schwerin telecommunications company Wemacom and Wemag AG, 150 local transport buses have already been equipped with the appropriate routers. By the end of January, the necessary technology will be installed in all 200 buses of the district’s own VLP. “The current zeitgeist also includes the possibility of being able to access the Internet while driving,” said District Administrator Stefan Sternberg (SPD) on Wednesday.

Passengers who see a sticker with the lettering “Free WLAN here on the bus” when boarding can select the “Wemag Internet” network on their smartphone. A web page will then open automatically, where you can confirm free surfing. “We have already tested the offer in the background over the past few weeks. The test phase with the passengers of the VLP is now beginning. We are certain that the offer will be well received,” said Wemacom Managing Director Volker Buck.
