Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) – The increase in consumer prices in Hesse weakened towards the end of the year. Compared to the same month last year, the inflation rate in December was 8.1 percent, as the State Statistical Office announced on Tuesday. In November, the increase was 9.7 percent. From November to December, prices fell by 0.7 percent. Energy was 11.4 percent cheaper.

For the whole of 2022, more expensive energy and food as a result of the war in Ukraine caused an inflation rate of 8 percent, according to statisticians. The highest rate was determined in October at 9.9 percent.
