Freiburg (dpa / lsw) – Central defender Keven Schlotterbeck changes on loan within the Bundesliga from SC Freiburg to VfL Bochum. The 25-year-old will initially receive a contract until the end of the season, as the sports club confirmed on Monday. Schlotterbeck, who came to Freiburg on July 1, 2017, was hardly used this season with the Europa League round of 16.
According to media reports, the league competitors FSV Mainz 05 and FC Schalke 04 as well as the second division club 1. FC Nürnberg had also tried to get the defender. The two clubs did not provide any information about the change modalities.
“Keven approached us with the desire for change with the possibility of more playing time. We can understand that, especially after the contract extension in the summer,” said SC sports director Klemens Hartenbach. “With the loan to Bochum we have found a good solution for both sides, which will enable Keven to collect as many minutes as possible in the remaining 19 Bundesliga games.”
