Bentwisch (dpa/mv) – The police in the district of Rostock are still investigating a woman who rode a horse very drunk and is said to have attacked police officers. The 27-year-old has to answer for assaulting police officers, as a police spokesman said on Monday in Güstrow. She is due to be heard shortly. The Criminal Code provides for prison sentences of between three months and five years for such cases. The incident happened on December 28 near Klein Bartelsdorf, a district of Bentwisch.

The police called witnesses. The rider from the region had been found on a country road where she was walking the horse. When the officers asked her to get off, she is said to have kicked and hit the officers. The police pulled the woman off the horse and handcuffed her. According to the police, a breath alcohol measurement of 3.17 per mille was measured.

The woman was able to go home later, but will be invited to another hearing, it said. Riding under the influence of alcohol was not a punishable offense and there was no danger to road traffic. The free-roaming horse was taken to its stable by witnesses. The officials remained able to work, it said.
