Rostock (dpa/mv) – The first babies of the new year in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania saw the light of day on Sunday morning. Casper was the first baby in Rostock’s Südstadtklinikum, the largest maternity hospital in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The 3550 gram boy was born at 1.58 a.m., as a spokeswoman for the hospital told the German Press Agency. Last year, 2,571 children were born there. The first birth of the new year was registered at 3.41 a.m. in the Dietrich-Bonhoeffer-Klinikum in Neubrandenburg – also a little boy.
