Erfurt (dpa/th) – The proportion of long-term sick teachers in Thuringia has hardly changed compared to 2021. This emerges from data from the Thuringian Ministry of Education, which is available to the German Press Agency. According to this, in the survey week between September 26 and 30, 673 teachers and thus 4.6 percent of all teachers in general schools were absent because they had been sick for a long time. In 2021 the value was 4.4 percent and before the corona pandemic 4.5 percent of long-term sick teachers were registered (2019).

“In view of the tense situation, especially in the area of ??health due to the ongoing pandemic, this is a result that requires continued efforts to keep teachers healthy and relieve the strain on the teachers, but can also be seen as a small success,” said a spokesman for the Ministry of Education. The teachers have apparently mastered or at least cushioned the exceptional situation of several years.

There are also workshops for teachers and school administrations on health promotion. This involves, for example, stress management, resilience, dealing with conflicts or stress-free communication.
