Jena/Erlangen (dpa/th) – At the turn of the year, the partner cities of Jena (Thuringia) and Erlangen (Bavaria) are sending relief supplies to the devastated regions of Ukraine. On Friday, an aid transport started in Jena, including diesel generators, to the Ukrainian cities of Bila Tserkwa and Brovary, as the city administration announced. Candles, toys and laptops were also sent to Ukraine. Together with the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), the municipalities want to support the care of tens of thousands of war refugees and residents in the two Ukrainian cities, for which they are collecting donations. Russia has been attacking and destroying energy supply facilities in Ukraine for weeks.
