A young woman runs over another young woman in Malchin on the evening of Christmas Day and flees from the scene of the accident. It is now clear: the accident victim died immediately. Even immediate medical help could not have saved the 23-year-old.

Malchin (dpa/mv) – The accidental death of a 23-year-old who was hit by a car in Malchin and only found hours later could not have been prevented even with immediate help. The young woman was dead immediately after the car hit her, said a spokeswoman for the Neubrandenburg police headquarters on Friday. The media had previously reported.

The accident happened on the evening of Christmas Day in Malchin (Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district). It was caused by a 21-year-old driver. She drove on after the collision and only contacted the police the next day after reports of the accident in the media, a police spokeswoman said. The young woman said she heard a bang. But she didn’t realize she hit someone. The 21-year-old is being investigated for negligent homicide and unauthorized removal from the scene of the accident.
