Schwerin (dpa / mv) – The import of illegal firecrackers and rockets is still a problem in the north-east. With around 20 cases so far, twice as much illegally imported pyrotechnics have entered the network of the security authorities this year as in the – weak – smuggling year 2019, the federal police in Bad Bramstedt said on Thursday on request. Compared to the previous year 2021, there is still a decrease of one third.
According to the Federal Police, only firecrackers and rockets licensed by the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) or another designated body in Europe may be used. For ordinary people, only table fireworks (category F1) and rockets and firecrackers (category F2) are allowed. Pyrotechnics, which are subject to explosives legislation, fall under the other categories F3 and F4.
At the start of fireworks sales in Germany, the police throughout the country once again urgently pointed out the dangers of illegal fireworks: “The so-called “Poland fireworks” are particularly dangerous and also illegal. In the past, the ignition of such fireworks led to the most serious injuries. “
In addition, parents were called upon to sensitize their children. A warning was given in particular against the consumption of alcohol in connection with fireworks. And even on New Year’s Day, the police believe it is better to leave the car in the garage: “The day after, the blood alcohol level can still be so high that no vehicle is allowed to be driven.”
