Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) – After two years of corona-related closures and reduced space, the Frankfurt Theater says it is “cautiously optimistic” about the future. “While many theaters are still suffering from the sharp drop in audience, we can be more than satisfied after the first third of the current season,” said artistic director Anselm Weber on Thursday.
The average occupancy between September and December 2022 is around 80 percent. “That’s more than we dared hope for.” After all, the show has lost more than 3,000 subscribers. Winning her back will certainly take a few more years. But many performances are now sold out again. That gives hope “that we’ll get back to where we were before the pandemic – namely in front of an almost always sold-out house”.
