A woman was found dead on the side of the road in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on Monday morning. She is apparently hit by a car on the evening of Christmas Day and succumbs to her injuries. There is no trace of the accident driver.
In an accident in Malchin (Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district), a driver caught and killed a young pedestrian and then fled. Passers-by found the victim on Monday morning and alerted the rescue workers.
According to the police, the 23-year-old was walking on the evening of Christmas Day when she was hit between 10:30 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. on Stavenhagener Straße at number 31. She was injured so badly that she succumbed to her injuries. The previously unknown accident driver then fled, the police said. As reported by the “Bild” newspaper, the young woman from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania had previously visited her parents and wanted to go to a nearby discotheque.
The woman was not found until hours later. Investigators from the criminal police, forensic medicine and Dekra were on duty at the scene of the accident on Monday. Investigations into the exact cause of the accident are ongoing. According to the police, there is still no concrete information about the manufacturer and type of the fugitive’s car. However, the vehicle must have damage to the front, headlights or license plate, according to a statement.
