Members of the Civil Guard have rescued this Sunday the lifeless body of a 65-year-old American mountaineer who fell off the previous day in the Ordesa National Park, in the municipality of the Huesca town of Torla.

As reported this Sunday by the Civil Guard, at around 9:40 p.m. on Saturday a call was received from the Bujaruelo shelter stating that a woman who was with her husband on a route along the Guasa belt path had separated from this one and it hadn’t arrived yet.

The Boltaña Mountain Rescue and Intervention Group (Greim) contacted the shelter and the husband to determine the route the woman could have taken.

With this information, the mountain specialists went to the place in an official vehicle and later on foot, resulting in the search being fruitless.

Early this Sunday morning, the Civil Guard helicopter based in Benasque, plus personnel from the Greim de Boltaña, including a guide with a person-search dog, and the doctor, joined the search. of 061.

At around 12:30 they located a piece of clothing in the aforementioned canal and, after making a lower flight, they found a body at the bottom of the ravine.

She turned out to be the woman they were looking for and who had injuries incompatible with life.

The body has been transferred by helicopter to the Boltaña helipad, where a hearse has taken it to the Forensic Anatomical Institute of Zaragoza, where the autopsy will be performed.

This is the third fatality this month in the mountains of Huesca and with it there are now 12 people who have lost their lives in sports activities in nature since the start of the summer rescue campaign on May 1.
