Sassnitz (dpa/mv) – Work on the new viewing platform is continuing above Germany’s highest chalk cliff. Gesine Häfner from the Königsstuhl National Park Center said that the elliptical steel structure might be pushed the last remaining piece over the Königsstuhl as early as Tuesday. In January, the so-called Königsweg should then be lowered into its final position after a two-week break on the construction site.

The current weather is technically not a problem. All you have to do is shovel snow on the Skywalk. The circuit running over the slope is to be opened in the spring. It replaces the viewing platform directly on the Königsstuhl, which was cordoned off at the end of September to protect the area from erosion.
