Freising (dpa / lby) – A 19-year-old was hit by a train at an S-Bahn station in Freising and critically injured. The federal police said on Sunday that the young person wanted to take a short cut via a trail that leads across the railway tracks. He overlooked the regional train, which passed through the station without stopping. The 19-year-old was hospitalized on Saturday evening with several fractures and head injuries. His condition was stable as of Sunday morning.

The train driver stated that he had not recognized anything in the fog and darkness, as it was also said. He alerted the emergency control center of Deutsche Bahn about a hit on the vehicle. Almost at the same time, passers-by called the police about the injured person. The route between Freising and Neufahrn was closed for around 80 minutes. The federal police are investigating the dangerous intervention in rail traffic.
