American singer Bruce Springsteen, huge rock star and singer of “Born in the USA”, announced on Wednesday the postponement of his concerts planned in the United States in September because of “symptoms of a stomach ulcer”.
The 73-year-old “Boss” is undergoing treatment for the disease, and “his medical advisers have decided that he must postpone the remainder of his September concerts,” his team posted on his Instagram page.
Bruce Springsteen, with a reputation as a showman, said that canceling these performances “broke his heart”, while promising his fans to be “back soon”.
He has been on tour with his musicians, the “E Street Band”, since the beginning of the year. He had already canceled two dates in August due to “illness”, without specifying the nature.
The New Jersey singer, whose impressive gallery of hits includes “Streets of Philadelphia” and “Dancing in the Dark”, is extremely popular in the United States.
Born into a Neapolitan-Irish family of working-class origins, he sets American daily life to music, with rock, country, blues and even soul influences.
Oscar winner for “Streets of Philadelphia”, he has accumulated awards during a long career, and sold more than 150 million records.
The album “Born in the USA” alone sold 30 million copies.
