Zara is launching into the second hand. The Spanish brand is opening the Pre-Owned platform in France this Thursday. Already available in Great Britain, the site is trying out in France before then opening in Spain and Germany. Above, three possibilities: purchase/sale, donations, and repair, as spotted by HuffPost. With one constraint: this will only work for Zara brand clothing. Via this novelty, the brand wants to gain a foothold in this flourishing market, largely dominated by the Vinted application in France, which claims 23 million users.
With Pre-Owned, Zara wants to “extend the life of your Zara clothes,” explains the brand on its website. Regarding the purchase/sale service, nothing complicated: it’s a customer-to-customer service. You upload photos of the garment you want to sell, add a description, its price, and the condition of the fabric. A team from Zara will be responsible for checking the content uploaded for “abusive content” and “that the condition of the item you have selected is correctly reflected”.
In addition to your photos and your personal description, the brand will affix the original photos and the official description of the garment next to it. Once your garment has been purchased, you will have six days to send it, the website points out.
With the donation service, you have three options: use the paid home collection service, send by parcel, or deposit your clothes in containers provided for this purpose in store. Zara also offers a repair option. To do this, you can go to the store, where the team will give you advice on the types of repairs you need. You will then specify your type of repair directly online. You will then need to drop off the clothing at a drop-off point. You will finally be contacted again when it has been retouched.
