Zwickau (dpa/sn) – The Robert Schumann Prize of the city of Zwickau, worth 10,000 euros, goes to the duo Christian Gerhaher and Gerold Huber and the pianist Florian Uhlig in 2023. Since 1964, the prize has been awarded to people and institutions who have made a special contribution to the dissemination of the music or research into the life and work of the composer Robert Schumann. Uhlig recorded all of Schumann’s piano works on 15 CDs, Gerhaher and Huber all of his 299 songs on 11 CDs. Therefore, the decision was made to share the prize in 2023, the city announced on Friday.

Robert Schumann (1810-1856) was born in Zwickau. He is one of the most important composers of the Romantic era. The award ceremony is scheduled for October 3, 2023.
