Munich (dpa / lby) – The chairwoman of the tenants’ association in Munich, Beatrix Zurek, calls for less selfishness on the rental market. “We all have to pull together a bit. It can’t be that someone who is born now shouldn’t have the right to live in Munich,” she told the “Münchner Merkur” (Friday). “People who live alone don’t need a 100 square meter apartment, 50 square meters are easily enough. Families urgently need larger apartments. If everyone just insists on their egoism, we won’t be able to achieve this change of heart.” According to the newspaper, the city of Munich is expecting an annual population increase of 0.71 percent by 2040. That would be 16 percent more and an increase to 1.8 million inhabitants.
