Kamenz (dpa/sn) – Last year, 51,215 people with disabilities received integration assistance in Saxony. This was announced by the State Statistical Office of Saxony on Wednesday. 30,000 of them received a benefit for social participation – this includes in particular assistance and support in everyday life. 18,530 people received this help. Benefits for participation in working life were paid to a total of 16,060 people in Saxony.

According to the Bundesvereinigung Lebenshilfe, integration assistance is for people who, due to their disability, are significantly restricted in participating in society or who are threatened by it. In 2021, the gross expenditure for this in Saxony amounted to just over 726 million euros. About four-fifths of the expenses were covered by the municipal social association of Saxony as the supra-local agency.
