Lottstetten (dpa / lsw) – The food manufacturer Berghof Glatt has recalled eggs due to the risk of salmonella. Affected are boxes with the best before date up to and including December 21, 2022, as the company based in Lottstetten (Waldshut district) announced on the portal. According to the announcement on Monday, the eggs were delivered to the retail stores Dorfladen Dettighofen, Dorfladen Altenburg, Raiffeisen Jestetten, Beckerei Gutay, Landmarkt Lottstetten, Obsthof Henes, Obstbau Buchter, Schlachthüsli Schaub, Holzwiesenhof Kübler and Bio Hauser (Jestetten weekly market).

“Salmonella was found in the eggs of one of our three small stables as part of our regular self-monitoring,” the company said. Customers could return these for a refund or exchange them for other eggs at the company’s farm.

Salmonella infection can cause diarrhea, abdominal pain, vomiting, and a slight fever, which usually resolves within a day. However, more severe disease progressions can develop in infants, small children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems.
