Duisburg (dpa / lnw) – Previously unknown perpetrators smeared two swastikas on a concentration camp memorial in Duisburg at the weekend. According to a message from Monday, the state security of the police took over the investigation because of the political background of the crime and is now looking for witnesses. According to initial investigations, the swastikas must have been smeared on the stone and steel memorial between Saturday (December 3) around 6:00 p.m. and Sunday morning around 10:00 a.m. According to the city, the memorial was dismantled at the end of 2021 and re-erected after restoration in July 2022.
