Offenbach (dpa/lhe) – December starts out wet in Hesse and with some snow in the mountains. On Thursday it is mostly overcast with light drizzle, as the German Weather Service (DWD) announced in Offenbach in the morning. The temperatures reach two to five degrees Celsius in northern and central Hesse and up to eight degrees in the Rhine-Main area. In the afternoon, the precipitation is expected to subside, before new rain and, depending on the altitude, snow are expected in the evening, especially in the east of the country. According to the DWD forecast, up to three centimeters of fresh snow can fall at night at higher altitudes in northern and eastern Hesse. Ice from freezing rain is also possible.
On Friday it will be mostly cloudy. Light snowfall is expected to continue in the north and east, while rain or sleet is expected at lower altitudes in southern and central Hesse. The maximum values ??are between two and six degrees. In the higher mountains there can be light permafrost with values ??between two and minus three degrees. For the night of Saturday, the weather service continues to expect light snowfall and a risk of ice in some areas.
According to the DWD forecast, the precipitation should decrease on Saturday morning, in the afternoon it should mostly remain dry. The temperatures reach two to five degrees, in the higher mountains a maximum of zero degrees.
