Mannheim (dpa / lsw) – Handball goalkeeper Mikael Appelgren has extended his contract with the Bundesliga club Rhein-Neckar Löwen. The new working paper is valid until 2026, as the club announced on Tuesday. Appelgren has struggled with injuries in recent seasons. After operations on his knee, hand and shoulder, he is now one of the top performers of the two-time German champion.
“The extension with Mikael is an absolute milestone for us,” said managing director Jennifer Kettemann about the goalkeeper, who switched to the lions in 2015. “With his class, experience and his immense importance for the team structure, he is a key figure in our squad and one of the most important building blocks for the rebuilding of the coming years.”
