With boom and double boom, the traffic light wants to spread confidence for the winter. But more than three quarters of Germans fear that they will hardly or not at all compensate for the increased energy prices.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz promises that the energy supply in Germany will be secured in winter. A narrow majority of 51 percent of Germans believe that according to the new RTL/ntv trend barometer. 47 percent fear that there could be bottlenecks in the supply of electricity or gas. A majority of East Germans and AfD supporters fear the latter.

Before the turn of the year, numerous municipal utilities are increasing electricity and gas prices for next year. Only nine percent of Germans trust that most of these price increases will be offset by the relief they will receive from the energy price brakes decided by the federal government.

64 percent believe that a small part of the price increases will be offset by the federal government’s relief measures. 21 percent assume that the relief measures will not offset the price increases at all. Low-income earners and, above all, supporters of the AfD fear that their households will not be relieved at all by the energy price brakes that have been decided.

39 percent of Germans have the impression that the current federal government made up of SPD, Greens and FDP is leading the country through the current crises well or even very well. A majority of 60 percent does not think so. Only supporters of the SPD (68 percent) and the Greens (71 percent) think that the federal government is leading Germany well through the current crises. On the other hand, less than half (43 percent) of the supporters of the FDP share this belief.
