For several weeks, the Ukrainian army has been carrying out a counter-offensive against the Russian forces. The operation is not without risk for kyiv since several deaths have already been recorded. Tuesday, August 29, six soldiers lost their lives in the crash of two combat helicopters. The accident happened in the east of the country, in the Kramatorsk region. The previous week, three other Ukrainian pilots also died. Their aircraft, two L-39 combat training aircraft, collided by accident.
“Two Mi-8 military helicopters went down during a combat mission. Six members of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have died,” the Ukrainian National Bureau of Investigation (SBI) said in a statement.
Ukrainian MI-8 helicopters, which date from Soviet times, are used at the front to strike Russian lines with rockets. They often fly in pairs low to the ground, before suddenly rising to take their shot, then returning to their base, flying close to the ground again.
