“This water reservoir will make it possible to secure eight farmers, including seven who are breeders”, explains project leader Thierry Boudaud, at the microphone of BFMTV. But if this project can be justified to help farmers, it could also trigger the ire of environmental movements. Indeed, that of Sainte-Soline, a few kilometers away, had seen violent clashes take place during the month of March.
The reactions were not long in coming. “There is a small river patiently waiting for us to finish drying it up,” criticizes Jean-Jacques Guillet, one of the historical opponents of mega-basins. “When you have water under your feet, you don’t try to put it in the sun. And that’s the whole concept of bedpans! On the project itself, it’s stupid,” he laments.
