Ratingen (dpa / lnw) – A freight train hit a car at a level crossing in Ratingen (Mettmann district) and carried it away. The driver was seriously injured in the accident on Thursday evening, the fire department said. Passers-by rescued her from the vehicle. A photo taken by the emergency services showed the car lying on its side with significant damage to the roof and left side. According to the fire department, the woman was taken to a hospital and the driver suffered a slight shock. He brought the train to a standstill about 50 meters after the collision. The cause of the accident was unclear in the evening. The affected track was closed.
