Dresden (dpa / sn) – After a fire in an apartment building in Chemnitz, the police are investigating a 17-year-old for serious arson. According to current knowledge, dealing with an open flame in the living room of the fire apartment caused the fire on Wednesday afternoon, as the police announced on Thursday. A spokesman did not provide any further information and referred to the ongoing investigation. The police investigated the scene of the fire on Thursday morning.

According to the police, the fire brigade was able to prevent the spread of the fire in the residential building by quickly intervening. Four residents of the house, including the 17-year-old youth, were taken to a clinic on suspicion of smoke inhalation. The fire apartment and the apartment below are no longer habitable.
