Nuremberg (dpa / lby) – Many young people in Bavaria value traditions. This is the result of a survey by the State Ministry for Homeland, in which more than 5,800 citizens took part. In it, 65 percent of the under-25s stated that the preservation of traditions and regional characteristics was important to them. Among all respondents, it is 80 percent.
The “Heimatspiegel” presented in Nuremberg on Thursday also shows that more than 90 percent of the participants like living in Bavaria and feel at home there. The ministry carried out the survey for the first time this year in order to find out the subjective opinion of the citizens.
50,000 households were written to between March 16th and May 31st. The good response rate of around 8 percent is a clear signal for him, said Minister Albert Füracker (CSU). “Home is base and anchor.” The results should now flow into future measures of the Home Ministry.
According to the “Heimatbericht” 2021, Bavaria is still popular. Last year the population grew by 0.3 percent compared to the previous year to 13.2 million inhabitants. This was mainly due to the immigration of people from abroad. The strongest growth was again in rural areas, where 7.35 million people lived last year. “The population is growing there for the tenth time in a row,” said Füracker.
