Erfurt (dpa/th) – The Paritätische Wohlfahrtsverband has asked the state government and the municipalities for more support for women who have experienced violence. The structures for this are underfunded and there are gaps in supply, explained Peer Lück from Paritätisches Thuringia on Thursday. “It is important that women affected by violence and their children should receive comprehensive support, regardless of where they live,” explained Lück.
So far, for example, it has not been easy for those affected to be accommodated in a women’s shelter outside of the responsible district. However, this may be necessary if a person concerned wishes to be accommodated as far away as possible from the perpetrator’s place of residence. “For many of those affected, spatial distance is the first step into a new, non-violent life,” explained Lück.
