Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – The time for the Christmas markets begins in Saxony-Anhalt. The Magdeburger Markt opens its stands on Monday (5 p.m.), Halle will follow suit on Tuesday.
The Magdeburg Christmas market is scheduled to be open for 37 days until December 29th. In addition to an ice rink, there will be a fairy tale alley, a Ferris wheel and a craft house, among other things. Around 140 huts are planned. The organizers expect visitor numbers to be similar to those before the corona pandemic. In 2019, according to the information, more than 1.8 million people flocked to the city center during the Advent season.
With the start of the Christmas market, a world of lights shines in the state capital again. Around 1.2 million LED lamps shine in the city center and in the districts. Savings are to be achieved by slightly adjusting the switching times.
