Bocholt (dpa / lnw) – Two horses died in the fire in a horse stable in Bocholt (Borken district) on Sunday morning. The emergency services could not reach the two animals in time, as the Bocholt fire department announced. Another seven horses were rescued from the burning building and received medical attention. In order to get to the animals, parts of the walls had to be torn down with the help of front loaders. During the extinguishing work, the building finally collapsed completely. A police officer was taken to the hospital with circulatory problems. Several animal owners and members of the riding club received psychological care on site. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage were still unclear as of Sunday afternoon.
